It took me a long time to make peace with my pieces. There’s still some noise I have to shake out every day, but it mostly feels like dancing.

Over the past twenty-five years I've wandered through entertainment, corporate communications, publishing, technology, and the arts. I've written screenplays and novels, ghostwritten books, evaluated film and television projects, built partnerships, helped authors find an audience, filled sketchbooks, and occasionally written songs that surprised me.

For a long time, those pursuits felt disconnected, but now I see them as different ways of examining and explaining the world as I see it. Sometimes that curiosity shows up in a boardroom. Sometimes it becomes a book. Sometimes it ends up on a canvas or in the pages of a novel. The medium changes. The questions don't.

It’s always, always, always about trying to make sense of the weird adventure of life.

Once I stopped trying to separate those parts of myself, the businesses made more sense too. They weren't departures from my creative life. They were extensions of it.

Eventually that way of seeing the world became Grei Matter, where I help people turn ideas into action. Later, it grew into Kingbird Press, where I could stay close to the storytellers I was fortunate enough to work alongside. Somewhere in between, and all around them, there have always been novels, sketches, paintings, songs, and ideas waiting for their turn.

I’m nothing if not gloriously curious about what might come next.
